There is a parking area for about 150 cars but with over 300 runners expected we ask all runners to please car share if possible. This will help us to minimise the impact of the race on the village.Note that the parking area is in two parts with separate access points, so please follow signs and directions from marshals.
The Borders League is a series of winter road races usually over 5-6 miles contested by fourteen clubs from our area. There are no individual entry fees for any of the races and the only requirement is that a club vest is worn. Race dates for 2011/12 are given below. All races are on Sunday at 11.00, except the final one which is on a Wed evening.
Runners compete within their own age group with their fininshing place in each race counting as their score. So if you win you score 1 point, if you are 100th you score 100 points. Your best six scores over the seven races adding up to your personal final score. Prizes are awarded in each age group for the lowest scores. Runners can miss one race without penalty but men score 500 points for each extra race missed whilst ladies score 150.
There is also a team competition within the league. The first seven men finishers count towards the clubs men's team score whilst the first four ladies count towards the ladies team score. There are punitive penalties if any team falls short of the required numbers to make up a team - 300 points for each missing man and 100 points for each lady. Each year there are also awards for the most improved men's and ladies teams based upon the same scoring system but the current years team scores are compared with last seasons results.
