The membership age profile ranges from 19 to 70 year olds. Unfortunately we do not cater for complete beginners or children. New members should be able to run or jog at least 4 to 5 miles even if this is at a slow pace. We usually have two groups of runners one a little slower than the other. When you come along for your first club run we want you to enjoy it enough to want to join us regularly. It is important therefore that you are fit enough to cope with the distance.
How fast do and how far do you run?
The training groups run from six to ten miles but there are always opportunities along the way to take short cuts if you have a problem and need to cut your run short. You will need to make your coach aware so that he can plan accordingly. The pace of our quicker group ranges from sub 5 mins/mile to 8 mins/mile whilst our slower group ranges from 7 mins/mile to 10 mins/mile.
Will I get left behind or lost?
No, definitely not. Because of the ranges of pace within the training groups the runners can become a little strung out as we run and so we stop to re-group regularly with the faster members running back. The coaches are always well aware of how many runners they have in their pack and who they are. Special attention is paid to new members as we are aware that they will probably not know the area well.
I would like to join you for a trial run, what do I do?
You can contact Club Coach, Peter Taylor at info@tattenhallrunners.com or you can simply turn up at 7.00pm on club nights and ask for one of the coaches. The club coaches will greet you and have a chat with you to decide which of our training groups will suit you best. It's important to us that new people are made to feel welcome and enjoy their first run with us.
Do you have changing facilities?
Yes, we have excellent changing rooms and showers, even a sauna.
How much does it cost?
Your first run is free. If you decide to join us membership is £70 per year, including membership of Tattenhall Recreation Club. There are no other charges made.
Do I need to wear special clothing?
Yes, during the winter months all runners must wear a reflective top or vest as we run on the roads in darkness. Many members also wear headtorches at this time of year. It is a good idea to carry a windproof top in case it turns cold.
Do you socialise afterwards?
Yes, after training on Thursdays many members enjoy a drink and a chat in our bar in Tattenhall Recreation Club.
