This year the Llantysilio race was the third counter in the WFRA North Wales Series and, perhaps due to this, we saw a record number of runners (104), as well as our first VFF (Vibram five fingers) runners.
A gloriously sunny and hot day turned this into a tough race which was won by Ifan Roberts (Meirionnydd), who led most of the way, in a time of 51’ 17”) followed by Anthony Smith of Ambleside who was in 4th place at the start of the last climb up Moel y Gamelin. The O40 category was won by Paul Jones of Oswestry in a time of 53’ 58” and the O50 by John Adair (Holmfirth) in 61’ 22” The O60 race was won, as it was last year by Don Williams (Eryri) in 64' 01". Barrie Jackson of Merionnydd put in a fantastic time of 89’ 16” to win the o70 prize.
Andrea Rowlands (Eryri), repeated her win here last year, finishing in 59’ 10” from Lisa Lacon (Holmfirth) in 60’ 13”. The ladies O40 catagory was won by Val Swingler (Shropshire Shufflers)in 61’ 31”, knocking nearly 6 minutes off her time from last year. Annie Williams won the LV50 in an excellent 64’ 52” and the O60 ladies category was won by Margaret Oliver (Eryri) in a time of 81’ 58”.
